Hello

Have a Healthy Day !!

Welcome to the world of health from Ayurveda conducted by Dr. Nikul Patel.

As per your problem, your wife is 25 years old and has a white patch in the armpit that keeps spreading.

A white patch in the armpit can have two main causes:

  1. Fungal infection (tinea versicolor / sidhma kushtha) – very common in sweaty, moist and warm areas like the armpit. It shows light white or brownish-white patches with fine scaling, sometimes with mild itching.
  2. Shvitra (vitiligo / leucoderma) – the skin colour is completely lost; the patch is milk-white, without scaling or itching, and slowly spreads.

The treatment of the two is different, so a correct diagnosis comes first. Show a skin specialist once, or consult us in person / online with a photo (a Wood’s lamp test tells immediately). A clear photo of the patch also helps us guide you correctly.

From the Ayurvedic point of view, in both conditions disturbance of rakta and pitta-kapha dosha, incompatible food (viruddha ahar) and weak digestion are considered the main causes.

Until the diagnosis, the following medicines can be started for 2–3 months:

  1. Arogyavardhini vati – 2 tablets morning and evening
  2. Gandhak rasayan – 2 tablets morning and evening
  3. Mahamanjishthadi kwath – 15 ml morning and evening with an equal amount of water
  4. Khadirarishta – 15 ml morning and evening after meals with an equal amount of water

External treatment:

  • If it is scaly / itchy (fungal): after bathing, dry the area well and apply Chakramarda (pavad) oil or Karanj oil twice a day.
  • If it is milk-white without scaling (shvitra): apply Bakuchi oil only on a vaidya’s advice (it is strong and can cause blisters in direct sunlight).

Take care:

  • Keep the armpit dry and clean, wear loose cotton clothes, wipe sweat immediately.
  • Do not apply deodorant / perfume directly on the patch.
  • Keep her towel and clothes separate.

Diet:

  • Completely stop incompatible food – salt, sour items, fruit or fish with milk; jaggery with curd, etc.
  • Reduce curd, sour, fermented, fried, very spicy, bakery and junk food.
  • Take more green vegetables, bitter gourd, moong and amla.

Panchakarma (especially useful if shvitra is diagnosed): Virechana karma, Raktamokshana.

At such a time stay away from negative thoughts and keep a positive outlook. This is not a contagious disease (even if it is shvitra), so do not worry.
