My question is about several problems I have had since childhood, and my fear of pregnancy because of them. I am twenty-three years old.
Since childhood I have had some problems. I learned to walk very late. My balance is not good, so I cannot drive any vehicle. I vomit while travelling, and I also have migraine pain.
Besides this, I have aching in my legs, and during periods my legs hurt a lot. My eye power does not stay stable, I have ear pain, I get a lot of gas and my weight is also low. When I take allergy medicine I feel a little better, but there is no lasting difference.
Because of so many problems, I feel afraid just thinking about pregnancy. I wonder whether my body will be able to bear a pregnancy.
My questions are:
– Could all these problems be connected to each other?
– In this situation, which specialist should I see and which tests should I get?
– Can these problems cause trouble in pregnancy?
– What should I do to prepare my body before pregnancy?
– Can Ayurveda offer treatment for these problems?
– What should be kept in mind in diet and daily routine?
I want a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby in the future, so I want to start the right care from now itself. Your guidance will be very important to me.
Hello
Have a Healthy Day !!
Welcome to the world of health from Ayurveda conducted by Dr. Nikul Patel.
Direct answer: You have many problems together, and if you learned to walk late in childhood and have balance problems, an examination by a neurologist is useful to understand the root cause. In most women, migraine, gas, allergy or low weight do not make pregnancy impossible; but tests and preparation before conception make pregnancy safer. It is possible to move forward not with fear but with information.
Understanding the problem
- Balance, vomiting while travelling, migraine and ear problems can sometimes be connected with the inner ear or the nervous system.
- Aching in the legs and pain during periods can also be due to deficiency of vitamin B12, D, iron or calcium.
- Low weight and gas are linked with digestion and nutrition.
- In many women migraine actually decreases during pregnancy; it differs for each person.
The Ayurvedic view
Your symptoms show a particular influence of Vata dosha: balance problems, aching, pain, gas, low weight and headache. Before conception, Ayurveda emphasises body purification, improving Agni, nourishing the dhatus and a cheerful mind, so that the Kshetra (uterus) and the whole body are ready for pregnancy.
Practical steps
- Examination by a neurologist and ENT (for balance and ears); regular eye check-ups for the eye power.
- CBC, vitamin B12, D, thyroid and calcium tests.
- When you plan to conceive, first have a pre-conception visit with a gynaecologist; ask whether your current medicines are safe in pregnancy.
- Keep a note of migraine triggers (late nights, staying hungry, sun, stress).
Diet
- Warm, fresh, easily digestible food; meals on time.
- Ghee in moderation, milk, sesame, dates, dal, green vegetables.
- Less cold, stale, very fried and gas-forming food.
Medicine, yoga and Panchakarma
In Ayurveda, substances such as Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Brahmi and Hingvashtak are considered useful for calming Vata, nourishment and digestion. After the vaidya’s examination, therapies such as Abhyanga, Shirodhara or Basti may be suggested before conception. The right medicine, dose and timing will be decided by the vaidya after examining your condition. During pregnancy, take any medicine only after asking both the doctor and the vaidya.
When to see a doctor immediately?
- Sudden very severe headache, change in vision
- Balance getting worse quickly, falling
- Weakness in one part of the body or difficulty speaking
- Discharge from the ear, reduced hearing
Related Questions
Is pregnancy safe if I have migraine?
Mostly yes; during pregnancy take medicines only on a doctor’s advice.
What preparation should be done before conception?
A health check-up, improving nutrition, reviewing current medicines and a gynaecologist’s advice.
Does low weight affect pregnancy?
If weight is very low, improving nutrition and weight before conception is useful.
In short: Even with balance problems, migraine, gas and low weight, many women have a safe pregnancy. Neurologist and ENT examination, nutrition tests, a gynaecologist’s advice before conception and Ayurvedic Vata-calming preparation are useful.
