Namaste Sir. What are the sixteen sanskars? Where can I get information about them? Is there a course for it? If we live out of town, can we do an online course? From when can it be done, and how do we contact you? Please explain in detail.

Hello

Have a Healthy Day !!

Welcome to the world of health from Ayurveda conducted by Dr. Nikul Patel.

Indian culture reflects an ideal social life. It is a culture that remains constantly alert so that, along with the ideal person, ideal family and ideal society, cultural values are sown generation after generation. Behind the ideal Indian way of life are the contributions of avatars like Rama and Krishna and of devoted sages from Manu to Vashishtha, Valmiki, Parashar, Vishwamitra and Yajnavalkya. The insistence on an ideal life was present in every family, and its result was seen in the individual, the family and society. It still survives today, even if in a weakened state, because those sanskars cannot be removed from our very chromosomes.

That is why I dedicate this post to newly-wed couples who respect Indian culture, value sanskars and are mentally ready to make a little effort to attain them.

Our scriptures describe, in a well-planned way, the various sanskars performed on every person born as a human being, and strongly encourage them. From before birth – starting with Garbha Sanskar – up to death, all sanskars bring out the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life. Our sages gave this provision for aware couples who value human birth and want to pass good sanskars to the next generation.

Behind some of these sanskars lies a special Ayurvedic view of health, so understanding all this in detail is our primary need. The method, custom and number of sanskars may differ a little from region to region, and in that sense they are more than sixteen. Rather than getting caught up in numbers, we should focus on their purpose, understanding and method.

According to Hindu tradition, the sixteen sanskars of human life are:

  1. Garbhadhan sanskar
  2. Punsavan sanskar
  3. Simantonnayan sanskar
  4. Jatakarma sanskar
  5. Namkaran sanskar
  6. Nishkraman sanskar
  7. Annaprashan sanskar
  8. Vapan (Chudakarma) sanskar
  9. Karnavedh sanskar
  10. Upanayan sanskar
  11. Vedarambh sanskar
  12. Keshant sanskar
  13. Samavartan sanskar
  14. Vivah sanskar
  15. Vivahagni-parigrah sanskar
  16. Agni (Antyeshti) sanskar
  • Even if you live out of town, you can get guidance on the sixteen sanskars – and especially Garbha Sanskar – through our online course. For this you can contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp using the details below.
  • It is best to start this course about two months before planning pregnancy; apart from that, it can also be started at any time during pregnancy.
