Sir, I have had a gas problem for 16 years and I am 75 years old. I have had a full endoscopy three times and consulted four of the biggest doctors in Mumbai; gastritis and GERD were diagnosed. Gas starts every morning, the stomach becomes very heavy after meals, I burp constantly, the abdomen bloats and I have to breathe heavily. I eat very regularly and take Triphala, yet sometimes the stomach clears and sometimes I am constipated. The left side of my abdomen is more raised than the right, and the sonography shows gas as the cause. I took homeopathic and Ayurvedic treatment too, but nothing helped. I have a small hiatus hernia; sometimes food comes up while lying down. I have spent two to three lakh rupees with no change. The endoscopy showed no ulcer or cancer. There is slight pain in the lower right abdomen. Digestion does not happen at all – what I eat in the morning digests by night. I am fed up with life. I have mild cataract, take Divya Udaramrit vati and a BP tablet. Please suggest a remedy.
Hello
Have a Healthy Day !!
Welcome to the world of health from Ayurveda conducted by Dr. Nikul Patel.
I understand your problem. From the Ayurvedic point of view, this is a state of indigestion (ajirna) following weak digestive fire (agnimandya), and the gas produced from undigested food moves upward. It can also be called alasaka/vishtabdhajirna.
If Ayurvedic medicines are taken for a long time, it may not be cured 100%, but it can certainly improve to a large extent.
The best advice for you is to take treatment at an Ayurvedic clinic nearby with regular check-ups, because the medicines will need to be changed again and again. If you wish, you can start medicines from us too; it is preferable to visit once in person, after which medicines can be sent by courier. Long-term treatment with patience is needed, and you should start with that mental preparation. Continue your BP medicine as advised by your doctor.
Continue the following medicines for two months and contact once afterwards:
- Chitrakadi vati 2 tablets twice a day after meals
- Avipattikar tablet 2 tablets twice a day
- Shivakshar pachan churna 1 teaspoon with buttermilk after meals
- Praval panchamrit tablet 1 tablet twice a day
- Abhayarishta 10 ml, shaken well, three times a day after meals
Diet:
- Walk and do light exercise after waking up
- Stop market snacks and take fresh, light food
- Avoid bakery items
- Drink thin buttermilk regularly after meals
- Avoid very spicy, salty and sour food
- Avoid pickles and fermented items
Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment will also be beneficial:
- Virechana karma
- Basti karma
At such a time, stay away from negative thoughts and always think positively. Practise yoga, pranayama and meditation for faster benefit. If you ever feel hopeless or have thoughts of harming yourself, please talk to your family or a doctor right away.
For better results, practise the following regularly:
- Paschimottanasana
- Chakrasana
- Pavanamuktasana
- Pranayama
