Can we consume Amla and carrots together?
Considering Amla is cold in potency and carrot is hot in potency.
Hello

Direct answer: Yes, Amla and carrot can be taken together. This combination is not listed as Viruddha Ahara (incompatible food) in Ayurveda, and the juice of the two is commonly used. Take a moderate amount and see what suits your digestion.
Understanding the problem
Opposite potency (Virya) alone does not make a food combination harmful. Viruddha Ahara depends on the specific combination, quantity, time, season and the person’s digestion.
The Ayurvedic view
Amla is Sheeta (cooling) and balances all three doshas, especially Pitta. Carrot is light, sweet and slightly warm. Together they nourish the blood and eyes and support digestion. In winter morning hours this combination suits most people.
Practical steps
- Fresh juice or salad, not stored for long.
- Take in daytime, not late at night.
- People with cold, cough or very weak digestion: take a small amount, with a pinch of black pepper or dry ginger.
Diet
- Avoid mixing with milk at the same time.
When to see a doctor?
- Acidity, loose motion or cold after taking it regularly.
In short: Amla and carrot are a good combination; take fresh, in moderate amount and in daytime, and adjust if your digestion is weak.
