I am a 21-year-old college student. My breasts are small, and because of this I constantly feel shame and inferiority. Even taking photos with friends, wearing clothes I like, or when there is talk of engagement, I fear that my future husband will not like me.
I have seen many advertisements on the internet for creams, capsules and exercises that claim to “increase size in a few days”. Are they true? Can breast size be increased naturally? And how can I come out of this feeling of inferiority? Is there any remedy for this in Ayurveda?

Namaste. It takes courage to write openly about your feelings. Many young women have this feeling; you are not alone.
Direct answer: Breast size depends mostly on heredity, hormones and body fat, and small breasts are completely normal and healthy. Claims of creams or pills that “increase size in a few days” are not reliable. The most important thing is to regain your confidence.
Understanding the problem
Breast size is not linked to womanhood, beauty, the ability to breastfeed or happiness in a relationship. Women with small breasts can usually breastfeed normally too. Society, films and social media show only one kind of body as “beautiful”, which makes many young women compare themselves and feel unhappy.
Caution about advertisements
Some “breast enlargement” products may contain hidden hormones or unknown ingredients that can affect periods, skin or health. Do not take such products without a doctor’s advice.
The Ayurvedic view
Ayurveda considers every person’s Prakriti (inborn body constitution) to be different. Women of Vata Prakriti naturally have a slim body, and it has its own beauty. True radiance and attraction come from Ojas, which grows with a cheerful mind, good sleep and a balanced life. If weight is very low or nutrition is deficient, attention to the nourishment of Rasa Dhatu (nutrient fluid) improves the health of the whole body; but this should not be seen as “size-increasing treatment”.
Psychological understanding
The feeling of inferiority often comes not from the body but from comparison formed in the mind. When the thought “something is wrong with me” comes, recognise it and question it: “Is this true, or just the voice of advertisements?”
Practical steps
- Choose a comfortable bra of the right size; a good fit improves both appearance and confidence.
- Wear clothes you feel good in, not according to others’ choice.
- Unfollow social media accounts that make you feel bad about yourself.
- Write three things of gratitude for your body every day.
- Exercises that strengthen chest muscles (such as push-ups) improve posture, but they do not change breast size.
Diet and lifestyle
- Balanced, nourishing diet; if underweight, milk, ghee in moderation, dry fruits, dals.
- Enough sleep, regular exercise, less stress.
- Yoga: Bhujangasana, Ustrasana, Surya Namaskar (for posture and confidence), Bhramari.
About herbs
No herb has been reliably proven to increase breast size. If periods are irregular, weight is very low or there are signs of hormone imbalance, the Vaidya may suggest herbs such as Shatavari for general health. The dose and choice will be decided by the Vaidya after examination.
Counselling
If inferiority grows so much that it affects studies, friendships or daily life, talking to a counsellor is very helpful. Counselling on body image gives many young women new confidence.
Warning signs: when to see a doctor?
- A lump, pain or nipple discharge in the breast
- Very irregular or absent periods
- No breast development even after 16-17 years of age
- Constant sadness, unhealthy eating habits or thoughts of harming oneself
Whom to consult: a gynaecologist or physician; a counsellor for inferiority; an Ayurvedic Vaidya.
Example 1: A young woman in her early twenties avoided photos because of small breasts. A cream ordered from the internet made no difference. After counselling, well-fitting clothes and unfollowing accounts that made her compare, her confidence grew within a few months.
Example 2: Another young woman was underweight and had irregular periods. After tests and improved nutrition, her periods became regular and fatigue reduced. She said she now sees her body not as a “defect” but as her own health.
Related Questions
Do small breasts cause difficulty in breastfeeding?
No, breast size does not determine the ability to breastfeed.
Do breast enlargement creams work?
Such claims are not reliable, and some products may contain hidden hormones; do not use them without a doctor’s advice.
Does exercise increase breast size?
Exercise improves chest muscles and posture, but breast size mostly does not change.
In short: Small breasts are completely normal and healthy; size depends mostly on heredity and hormones. Claims of creams that “quickly increase size” are not reliable. A good fit, nutrition, less comparison and counselling increase confidence.
