First of all: at 74, swelling in both legs, chest phlegm and long-term tobacco use can be signs of weakness of the heart, kidneys or liver. So please get an ECG, 2D Echo, kidney (creatinine) and liver reports, sugar, and a prostate sonography done by a doctor. If he becomes breathless or has difficulty breathing while lying down, show a doctor immediately.
Treatment will change according to the reports, but until then the following medicines can be taken:
- Punarnavashtak ghanvati – 2 tablets morning and evening
- Gokshuradi guggulu – 2 tablets morning and evening
- Arjuna ghanvati – 1 tablet morning and evening
- Hingvashtak churna – half a teaspoon after meals (for gas)
Take care: Stop tobacco completely; reduce salt; keep the legs raised while sitting; drink less water late at night.
